· Moist, well drained soil
· Supply enough water to retain moist soil conditions but do not let the soil around the tree get soggy

Pruning and Maintenance:
· Time – Fall or Winter
· Not require pruning to shape or encourage budding
· Prune off any dead or diseased limbs in the early spring months. Use a pruning saw and make the cuts as close to the trunk as possible
· Remove very small branches that grow up inside the lion's mane, or crown. These branches and their foliage can lead to disease
