Growth Rate / Habit:       Slow / Upright in Vase-like shape
Flower / Foliage:
·    Deep Green / Golden yellow brushed with red-orange in Fall (latest tree to colour in the fall)
·    Glossy leaves that are curled and/or kinked up.  Compact arrangement of leaves and firm to the touch
Preferred soil:
·    Moist, well drained soil
·    Supply enough water to retain moist soil conditions but do not let the soil around the tree get soggy
Pruning and Maintenance:
·    Time  –  Fall or Winter
·    Not require pruning to shape or encourage budding
·    Prune off any dead or diseased limbs in the early spring months.  Use a pruning saw and make the cuts as close to the trunk as possible
·    Remove very small branches that grow up inside the lion's mane, or crown. These branches and their foliage can lead to disease
Shaping:
·    Not require
·    Natural flow of the tree is a vase-like shape. Trim the mane to keep a more vertical than horizontal shape
Fertilize
·    Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring
