Pruning and Maintenance:
·    Time    prior to bud break in Spring or shortly after the hardening off of new growth
·    Regular pruning will keep the plant more compact and healthier
·    Remove the dead, broken, diseased branches. Make sure that you don't remove more than five or six affected branches at one go
·    Branches growing oddly or intertwining with others need to be trimmed till the base, since they can hamper the healthy growth of the plant
·    The top of the juniper should be shaped in such a way that the top branches are shorter than those near the ground. Shaping them in this manner will ensure that the entire shrub receives ample sunlight
·    While pruning the juniper plant, exercise proper precaution to cut only the green growth.  Cutting the woody part of the plant is not advised, since it may not regrow if it is cut.  Also protect your plant from pests as they can seriously hamper the plant's growth and destroy it
Shaping:
·    Junipers are easily pruned into different shapes
Fertilize
·    Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting
